Betdaq Betting Reviews: Is Betdaq safe?

#14 of 20 Bookmakers

Betdaq was established in 2000 and in 2013 became part of the Ladbrokes Group. The provider is regulated from Gibraltar but the company headquarters are in Dublin. Betdaq is a betting exchange and not a traditional fixed odds bookmaker. The company allows customers to back and lay bets and in effect is a broker that takes commission from bets struck. Markets are available for about 20 sports and there are also odds for virtual sports and politics. Betdaq also features a casino and there is a desktop and mobile version of the site. The company offers promotions, trading tools and sports tips which result in good Betdaq ratings.

Even though Betdaq is the second biggest betting exchange across the industry globally the provider only has 7% of the exchange market which reflects the dominance of Betfair in this sector. This market division can be a concern potential customers as there might not be such a high level of movement or engagement at Betdaq.

Website & Usability

01 Website & Usability

Simple and clean design

Betdaq reviews agree that despite the low levels of traffic across some of Betdaq’s sports markets the provider has created a decent brand and a website that works well. The menu structure makes navigation easy and intuitive and each gaming product can be found from the main horizontal menu at the top of the Home Page. The website appears in a purple and white branding and the betting options are marked clearly. There is a rotating display of some of the special features of the exchange positioned prominently on the Home Page.

Betdaq currently has a bounce rate of just 15.55%, meaning that only that percentage of visitors leave the page without clicking through onto anything else. When we compare that to Betfair’s bounce rate of 38.97% we can see that Betdaq’s site must be doing something right to pull in those customers! The website has a good rating as part of the Betdaq review, and we think its website stands it in good stead to keep upping its market share.

Betting Offers

02 Betting Offers

All of the essentials are covered

As part of the Betdaq Review we notice that Betdaq offer odds for about 20 sports which is more than adequate for customers who like to gamble on the main betting sports. In comparison Betfair have odds for about 50 sports, with William Hill having something similar. You should be able to find good bets for the major leagues and events but not so much for minor fixtures.

Betdaq has back and lay odds for soccer, horse racing, tennis, golf, cricket, greyhound racing, American football, basketball, boxing, formula one, darts, GAA, ice hockey, MMA, rugby league and rugby union in addition to a large list of Special Bets.

Popular Links highlight the most prominent betting events of the day and usually include high profile football matches being played in England. The English Premier League generates by far the most turnover and the main European leagues in Germany, Italy, Spain and France are popular. Betdaq covers eight leagues and competitions for English ‘soccer’ (as it is called on the site) which results in a good Betdaq Rating. Every match is covered live but the range of markets is tiny compared to the equivalent fixtures on Betfair.

Football, Tennis, Horses

Live coverage

More than just football on offer

Horse racing is the first option in the Sports menu on the Betdaq Exchange and gets an average Betdaq rating in the Betdaq sports betting reviews. There is a decent range of events covered but only a limited number of markets for which liquidity is much less than with Betfair.

Tennis has seen a massive growth in betting and Betdaq customers can place exchange tennis bets on the match winner, games handicap, set betting, to win each set and whether there will be a tie-break or not. Liquidity levels aren’t great and the range of tournaments on offer is limited, but Betdaq customers can bet on tennis multiple markets which bring together a number of selections in one bet.

Overall the sports on offer at Betdaq aren’t fantastic, but this is mostly because of the limitations of a betting exchange - there need to be people on both sides of the bet! As Betdaq is working hard to improve its market share we expect to see this aspect improve in the near future.

Odds & Limits

04 Odds & Limits

What is Betdaq commission?

Betdaq odds can be displayed in fractional, decimal and US formats. The company charges Betdaq commission of 2 to 5% on net winnings. Betfair charges commission at rates from 5 to 7% on net winnings. Betdaq applies zero rate Betdaq commission on football matches in the English Premier League The minimum bet is £0.50 and the maximum bet varies depending on the sport and league. The minimum bet with Betfair is £2 and the maximum bet also varies. There is no maximum amount that can be won with Betdaq as that is dependent on how much is matched in a bet. Betdaq do not impose limits on stakes and a bet will be struck if there is a backer and layer and the price suits both parties. Betdaq provides live betting and a full account history for customers.

Commission 2%
No Maximum Winnings

How does Betdaq work?

Exchange bookmakers don’t profit from the results of events and the make-up of betting markets. In fact the outcome of betting events is irrelevant as returns are not based on the amount staked and won or lost. Exchanges offer peer-to-peer betting as individuals bet amongst each other. Exchanges make money by charging commission on transactions. Betdaq apply lower rates than Betfair to attract business and liquidity and an ongoing promotion offers 0% commission charges for football matches in the English Premier League. Low commission rates may be a good incentive for large staking customers but generally the differences are marginal.

Customer Service

05 Customer Service

Customer service you can trust

The Betdaq customer service department can be contacted by phone, email and fax. You can chat with a member of the support team live. Questions can be submitted, customers can make enquiries by phone and Betdaq appreciate feedback. The marketing department and affiliate staff can be contacted by a named email. The FAQ section (found via the ‘help’ button at the top right hand corner of the home screen) offers selection of answers to questions that other customers have found useful. In considering our Betdaq rating we found these questions to be very helpful, covering a variety of topics in a good amount of detail. Betdaq has a social media presence on Twitter and Facebook, and they seem to be very active, so it might be worth raising a concern here too.

Betdaq also provides sports tips and advice. This is helpful as the concept of a betting exchange can be a bit daunting to new users. The tips allow customers to feel more confident as they use the site. The betdaq tips site provides everything from specific information about races that day to more general articles about different types of bet. Our Betdaq review was pretty impressed with this element.

06 Payments

Good variety of payment methods available

You can use an extensive range of deposit methods with Betdaq including bank transfer, cheque, EntroPay, Neteller, Paypal, and Skrill. Similar methods can be used for taking money from an account. In keeping with industry standards no fees apply when using these banking methods and transfers are delayed based on normal banking procedures but some are immediate. As a Betdaq customer you have access to a full transaction history which shows banking and betting activity, including the use of the free bets. Minimum and maximum stakes are in line with UK based exchange competition.

The minimum deposit on Betdaq is £10, and the maximum varies. This is an interesting feature of the site as the maximum varies not on the payment method, but on the customer. The longer you have been on Betdaq the higher your deposit limit can be. A little like a credit card, if you wish to increase your limit you can forward documentation and a request to Betdaq and they will approve your new limit(or not!).

Security and Licensing

07 Security and Licensing

Our Betdaq review is impressed with the security systems

Betdaq is part of Ladbrokes International plc which is licensed by the Government of Gibraltar and regulated by the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner. All bets placed in the UK are regulated by the British Gambling Commission based on a licence granted to Ladbrokes Betting and Gaming Limited. Betdaq uses SSL encryption and is a member of the body that promotes fair gaming in the betting industry. Betdaq reviews its security regularly so you don’t have to worry that your money is in good hands.

Betdaq is also committed to responsible gambling, with several measures in place to make sure that customers are in control of their betting. There are tools available for self-exclusion and setting your own limits. A link to the ‘Social Responsibility’ page can be found at the bottom of the betdaq website, and details things to look out for if you are concerned about your gambling. There are helpful tips and links to bodies which can help. Betdaq also ensure that new users are over 18 by performing electronic checks on all new accounts. Our betdaq rating was impressed by this element of their customer service.

Mobile Application

08 Mobile Application

Betting on the go with Betdaq

The Betdaq app can be downloaded from the android website or from the App Store. The Betdaq mobile release replicates the main desktop site in terms of markets and exchange betting facilities for backing and laying selections. There is a full range of sports and leagues to bet and mobile customers have access to many live events which they can bet on in-play on the move. The Betdaq mobile includes these features: Betdaq tips, exchange starting price, live streaming, race guides, enhanced odds specials and a selection of casino games.

Customer ratings of the Betdaq app on the itunes store have been pretty negative in the past, with users claiming problems logging in and using the features. The app has since been updated however, and we did not have this problem at all. We think that Betdaq has taken these problems on board, showing that they listen to the customer.
